“You mean one step forward”, my son said to me, hoping to correct both my spelling and the expression we are all familiar with (one step forward, two steps back). No, I mean “Two Steps Foreward”. Now before I get a slew of comments from folks correcting everything wrong about this, hear me out…
Throughout my life, and in all of my travels around the U.S., I have always encountered wonderful and unique people who have different lives, tastes, cultures and beliefs. Of everything I value in all of the beautiful places I have gone, I can honestly say the people have always been the most amazing part of my experiences. Though along with each person’s individuality, there also comes unique ways of viewing life, what life throws at us and how we deal with these events.
While I believe most of us try to take the things life throws, contemplate why it is happening and figure out the best way to react to it, there are some who struggle with changes or obstacles in their life. I also feel these individuals are put into our lives for a reason, to hopefully receive encouragement through difficult situations and to know they are not the only ones who have gone through them.
That being said, the idea behind “Two Steps Foreward” is a place where individuals can see that they are not the only one who go through these “changes” in their life, and that there is a way to “move ahead” (forward) instead of taking a step back. (although in a later post I will talk about how taking a step back can be helpful in some situations).
The spelling of Foreward (as in the introduction of a book) is deliberate in that we can begin writing new chapters in our lives simply by changing our perception of the things we encounter.
This site will share insights from many individuals who live and work in our communities, cities, schools and worship centers, as well as excerpts from everyday people who have lived through life’s most challenging situations… the good and the bad.
Each week I will post new information, blogs, links and other great material to help better life, bring peace and hopefully bring us all closer to understanding how to continually change our perception on life; and all that it throws at us.
